Assistant Swim Coach Anne Kampfe

Assistant Coach, 1st Season

Two-time Olympic Trials Finalist

10-time All-American

After spending one year as an Assistant Media Relations Director and the swimming contact at the University of Missouri, Anne Kampfe was hired in April as the Tigers' top assistant coach. Besides coaching both the men's and women's sqauds, Kampfe will head up all recruiting efforts for both teams as as oversee the Tigers' academically.

Kampfe brings along some impressive credentials. She was a 10-time All-American swimmer at the University of Michigan and served as the team captain for the 1996-97 season, Wolverine's "Female Athlete of the Year." During her senior campaign, became the first athlete on the women's team to earn All-American honors in the same event (400 IM) four consecutive years. She was also a five-time Big Ten Champion.

Academically, Kampfe was also a standout earning CSCAA Academic All-American honors twice while being named to the Aca-demic All-Big Ten team all four years. On the international level, Kampfe was a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in 1992 and 1996 finaling in the 400 individual medley each year. She also finaled in the 200 IM in 1996. Kampfe also represented the United States on two occassions at the World University Games, serving as the women's team captain at the '97 games in Sicaly, Italy.

A native of Decatur, Ill., is a three-time Illinois "Swimmer of the Year". She is the daughter of Randall and Patricia Kampfe. Her sister, Elizabeth, will compete for the University of Illinois track team this year.
