The Zeta Phi Chapter holds a long and distinguished
tradition of academic excellence, and this success
is largely a product of our scholarship program. Some
of the instruments we employ in attempting to help
our pledges achieve academic success include: mandatory
study hours, a test file system that is unparalleled
on campus, an active mentor program that is designed
to foster academic acclamation for pledges, and Yeckel
Library. Yeckel Library, completed in 1993, includes
two study rooms and a computer lab containing five
Windows-based computers, one Macintosh computer, a
laser printer, a photocopy machine, and a scanner.
The computers in the lab have recently been upgraded
with both Windows 2000 and Microsoft Office 2000.
All computers are capable of audio and video production,
as well as having broadband access to the Internet.
Ties to Beta Theta Pi don't end at graduation. This
is evidenced by the continued - and substantial -
donations by our alumni. This includes the $100,000
contribution by Mrs. Jane Yeckel, widow of the late
Philip J. Yeckel '33, for the library dedicated in
his name. Yeckel Library truly is without rival anywhere
in the Greek system in terms of supporting academic
achievement. In many ways, its magnificence is symbolic
of the Beta dedication to academic excellence.
