Keynote Speaker: Michelle McClure, PhD

Dr. McClure serves as assistant vice president for academic affairs at Harris-Stowe State University. Before coming to Harris-Stowe, Dr. McClure was an assistant professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., where she taught and worked with students who were studying to become teachers. In addition, she served as program chair for the master’s in educational leadership with special emphasis in college student personnel.

Dr. McClure earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and master’s of arts in education from Truman State University. After completing her master’s degree, Dr. McClure worked as an administrator in academic affairs and student affairs, which helped her develop a passion for creating and evaluating policies that would enhance the educational experiences of students in the college setting. In August 2003, Michelle earned her doctorate in educational policy and leadership studies with emphasis in higher education administration from Indiana University. Since earning her degree, Dr. McClure has remained committed to making higher education accessible to underserved populations, as well as her research agenda, which examines the impact that policies have on the educational experiences of students, particularly students of color in the college setting.
