Think back to High School. It wasn’t very long ago. Many of you may have had a Student Council. An organization that created policy, held fun events, and was an advocate to the higher-ups. In a nut shell, that is who we are. We are a resource to students, staff, campus administration, and other organizations to help make life better for those living in the residence halls. This includes things such as funding support, philanthropy, event planning, programming, and much more.

There are several ways to get involved in RHA. The best way for more direct involvement is becoming an RHA Representative .

An RHA Representative attends a weekly committee meeting. There are 2-3 standing committees and several ad-hoc committees that are created through the course of the year. Also, Representatives attend a bi-weekly Congress meeting.

Representative Responsibilities:

* Plan and run events such as: Blood Drives, Leadership Conferences, Dances, and Programming.

* Approve funding to organizations, hall councils, and other uses of the RHA budget. They also give out annual RHA Scholarships.

* Create policy for RHA and the residence halls on campus. Also, they give recommendations to campus administration, such as Residential Life and Campus Dining Services

* Most importantly, they have FUN!

Every Residence Hall belongs to a Hall Council or Group Council. These are subordinate governments under RHA. Each of these councils are required to have a specified number of Representatives to attend RHA meetings to serve as a liaison. Talk to your Hall Coordinator before the first Council/Group meeting and see if there are any openings for Representatives. If so, they will tell you how to run for them and get involved.
