Welcome to the home of the Thesis Wheel!

The inspiration for this project may be traced back to one of our department's happy hours, when we were discussing thesis topics. One of the graduate students had the theory that it was possible to pick a topic and approach almost at random. Thus, the infamous Thesis Wheel was born.

The Wheel incorporates all the research topics of the graduate students at the time it was created, plus the interests of the faculty at the time.

The original cardboard version is not designed to be spun, nor is it designed to provide a sensible topic along every axis in every configuration. Instead, by rotating it at your leisure, you can find a multitude of potential topics involving any approach, material, time period or geographic region you like.

The virtual Wheel is specifically designed to help graduate students throughout the world come up with thesis/dissertation topics. While the new and innovative ability to spin the wheel may yield completely illogical, impractical and even comical results, it nevertheless may provide the impetus for creativity.
